I got to go to a really important game! The Jr Nats Kids Club lets kids 12 and under do special things, like watch BP from the warning track. I did that. I commentated on the hits. Jason Heyward was C-R-U-S-H-I-N-G big balls into the last row of the Red Porch and Loft in CF. Too bad the Nats didn’t take BP because they played extra innings the night before.
When they played 7 Nation Army by the White Stripes, Stephen Strasburg tossed his warmup pitches. His top speed all night was 99 mph. He was Grreat! By the end of the game, The Strasmeter was at 145.1 innings pitched. In the 2nd inning, Ian Desmond launched a big,big fly ball for a Home Run even in the rain. In top 3 Umpire Dana Demuth called it a delay. We were delayed for 51 minutes. Then, in the Bottom 5, Jesus Flores, the backup catcher, hit a 3-run jack that the left fielder missed and the ball rolled back onto the field. Tyler Clippard got a save as the Nats won.
Ryan Mattheus tossed a ball to me! He is a relief pitcher who throws 94 miles per hour!
